Clouds on the 53rd Parallel (2016)
I’d been driving for three days to attend the wedding of my niece, Brenda: north from California to Vancouver, the Coquihalla Highway to Kelowna, and finally more than 11 hours to Edmonton. Leaving the Rockies behind as I began my descent to the plains, I stopped to stretch; behind me those glorious mountains crowned by a pile of clouds that even they would envy, before me waving green fields all the way to the Great Lakes.
